U.S. Bank Sends Out Survey Regarding New KAL Korean Air Premium Card (& $20 Amazon Giftcard For Completing It)

U.S. Bank has sent out a survey to some customers regarding a possible new Korean Air (KAL) credit card. If you were sent the survey and qualify you’ll also receive a $20 Amazon gift card (just double check your e-mails to ensure this offer is available).

Here are some screenshots of the survey:

Other people were presented with different options, see this reddit thread for other options.

Our Verdict

Seems the are pleased with the roll out of the Altitude Reserve and want to do something similar on their co-branded cards as well. I wouldn’t read into these options too much at this stage as it looks like they are only in the basic stages of card design and options. None of the above presented options look that appealing from a keeping the card long term perspective but might be worth signing up for the first year and then cancelling.

If they’re smart, they’ll release a card that doesn’t just duplicate the CSR and Amex Plat. MR and UR are far more valuable than KAL miles.

That said, they could do the following to make this card more attractive. Drop the PP Select, Global Entry, Uber/Lyft credits and Duty Free discount entirely. Then make it so your KAL miles never expire while a cardholder (instead of after 10 yrs) and provide greater access to KAL/DL/SkyTeam lounges (maybe not unlimited passes, but something good). If they did that, I’d seriously consider this card.

So I just tried to fill it out and got to the income portion. I chose ‘prefer not to answer.’ The survey cut out and said ‘thank you for your interest but we’re looking for another type of profile.’ Fair warning.

The title should be

U.S. Bank Sends *Out* Survey…

“Sends Out” instead of “Sends Our”

I really hate the trend to Uber/Lyft credits. It just seems needlessly restrictive to the potential market for the cards.

Do you think if the current KAL cards are worth applying for? Or should I wait for the new cards to come out?
Thanks!

The existing KAL cards usually get increased offers around April each year… so i’d wait.
but if want the awards and you know you can easily top off your account with a UR transfer, why not get them?
