The Offer
- Safeway has a J4U offer to get 10x points on $50+ purchases of Zift Zillions gift cards. Expires on 6/28/25.
- Over the weekend you’ll get an extra 2x on all gift card purchases for a total of 12x.
Our Verdict
Safeway points are very valuable (up to $1.67 off groceries per 100 points), and Zift Zillions has various brands which are useful. Some can even be redeemed for Amazon or Airbnb and other top gift card brands.
Hat tip to reader RM
Lately, I’ve been seeing ‘Fluz’ of all apps(I had thought they keeled over & died) coming through strong in the gift card wars. They’ve been listing Uber Eats, DDash & others GC’s(for multiple days(and not just thru ‘fire sales’), mind you… for hefty discounts, ranging from 14-18%. But easily the strongest offer has been a killer 18-22% off all of their Phillips/Conoco & 76 Gas Station eGift Cards(avail for instant redemption. And(so far) they’ve had a bottomless supply)…
Using the GC is easy. Go to your app store and get the Fuel Forward app. Open your drop down menu/click on gift cards/ and(after you’ve highlighted & ‘cut’ your eGift code from Fluz), paste the GC code + type in the cards four digit PIN(which ‘hopefully’ you were able to memorize). Now, you’re set to pay at the pump. Fuel Forward App gives you $0.25 off your first fill-up + $0.05 off ea add’l.
I’ve also had no problems stacking 20-25¢ per gal savings, via Checkout51(If you’re close to the gas station You are intending to pump at, you’ll want to hide your location. As they have made it crystal clear, they have ‘zero qualms’ w/ reducing your reward to pittance—1¢/gal savings…
-You’ll also save 20¢/gal or so paying by gift card>credit card.
-I’ve also been stacking gas offers without issue via Checkout 51(up to) 25¢ add’l savings per gal.
FYI, Safeway routinely fails to award the normal points for buying gift cards if you purchase Zift Zillions cards. I would expect the 10x to track, but you might have to call CS afterwards to get the extra 2x.
Also, if you download the Carr app and link your Safeway account, you can redeem your Safeway points for Alaska Airline miles at good rates.
Certain Zift cards are crediting at only 8x. Others at 10x. I had one card — only one — credit at 1x. I called and asked why not even 2x and the rep said that specific card was 1x. Very inconsistent.
I question the 12x stack. Maybe we’ll get lucky.
Can anyone remind me how often we see the 10x? Thanks.
Thanks
What app is this?
Use Discover for an extra 5% off.
Cash back, that is
Is there a limit of buying the gift card?
Multiples of $50 to. E safe.
Where do you see the extra 2x on weekends? I only see 10x offer.
Doesn’t show up until the weekend
There may be a different 2x this weekend. But the everyday 2x did not stack for me (Friday). It only gave me the 10x.
My understanding is the 10x offer is supposed to be the total amount you earn including standard points. Not on top of the 2x. So the deal is really 8x points + 2x stand points = 10x. With the 4x points on all gift card deal that shows up every weekend it should be 8x + 2x base + 2x weekend deal = 12x.
I called CS and they gave me the other 2%. Thanks for the tip above.
There is an in-store sign that says 4x on weekends through the end of August. That’s for gift cards in general.
Clip the J4U coupon just to be safe. It will appear at 12:01 your local time tonight.
Is there a maximum amount limit for eligible purchase? My offer says “when you purchase $50 gift cards”.
The offer expressly states “unlimited use.” But, do it multiples of $50 to be safe. Best of luck.
Unlimited use is just how many times you can use it up to end date. No need to do in multiples of $50, but needs to be a minimum of $50.
I’m not a Safeway points expert but can you elaborate on the claim that points are up to 1.67 value? How is this achieved?
1200 points can be exchanged for a $20 off coupon in the app. Gives an effective 1.67 cpp for groceries.
That valuation is regional as @RM pointed out. It’s 1400 for my region for $20 off groceries.
Well, they have a lot of competition in Chicago area so would make sense. However I can say that Jewel doesn’t keep prices down for customers. Very expensive to shop there. Woodmans is the go to store or Target, both are at least 10-15% cheaper.
I see an expiration date of 6/28.
