Wawa Launches New Credit Card With FNBO

Wawa has partnered with FNBO to launch the new ‘Wawa Mastercard‘. Card offers the following benefits:

  • 50¢ off per gallon for the first 30 days, then 5¢ off per gallon
  • Earn 3X points per $1 on Wawa purchases (excluding fuel at the pump)
  • Earn 1X point per $1 spent everywhere else
  • 2,500 points = $25 Wawa gift card

Card doesn’t really seem useful at all unfortunately.

Yeah, most Wawas have gas stations attached, so a 5% card is a better deal there after the first 30 days.
I’ve found that the non-gas Wawas will code as a restaurant for some issuers. (but not Amex or Citi <frown> I’ve not found any stores that code as grocery.)
Eh, maybe the convenience of gift cards bought in store?

I was expecting a $200 Wawa gift card as a sign up bonus and 5% back on all Wawa purchases.

Earn 3X points per $1 on Wawa purchases (excluding fuel at the pump)

I wonder if one could get around that by buying fuel in the store?

What a shit ass fucking piece of shit credit card. I am still grandfathered into the Ducks Unlimited card so I get unlimited 5% back on ALL Wawa purchases!

I think I’ll just keep using my Citi Custom Cash, which counts Wawa as a grocery store for 5% cash back.

I did once see a WaWa code as a grocery store. However, most of them code as gas.

Is that one of the Wawa’s without gas pumps? Wawa’s have always coded as gas stations for me on my custom cash.

Yes, none of the Wawas in my city have gas pumps.

So your Wawas code as gas even if you’re just buying a sandwich or something?

Most of the 7-Elevens and WaWas that I have made purchases at have coded as “gas” whether or not they had an attached gas station. There have been exceptions though like with your WaWa.

Seems pretty bad. Any card getting 3-5% on gas blows it out of the water.

Card issued either as a Platinum or World Mastercard. Worthless SUB for churners (you’d have to pump 50 gallons a week to hit a total value of $100 in one month). No points earned on gas at the pump, and a $0.05/gal discount is equivalent to 1.25% back with gas at $4/gal. 3% back at Wawa (non-fuel purchases) and 1% on everything else is meh. All points are auto-redeemed as physical gift cards in $25 increments (sent via snail mail once per billing cycle). Points don’t expire.
Seems to stack with the Wawa Rewards program, but I can’t see anyone getting long-term value with this CC.

I’d assume you’d at least get the 1x points for gas at Wawa. Depending on the price of gas in one’s area that could bring it up to around 2.5 – 3% back. Still not great even with that, though But that percentage will only go down as the price of gas continues to go up over time.

Overall though, I agree it’s a pretty bad card.

Their cardmember agreement explicitly says no points on gas purchases at the pump.
