According to a recent APK tear down by 9to5Google it looks like Google is set to introduce a loyalty program. Details are sparse at the moment, but a string found in a localized Japanese version shows users earning 1 point for every ¥100 spent (~$0.9USD). I’d expect the US version to earn one point per $1 spent. In addition it looks like there will be different loyalty tiers as well:
Each level will provide unspecified benefits. Points will be able to be used for “special in-app items or Google Play credit” and will expire after an undetermined time. Personally I think we will see a $1/1 point earning rate with points worth 1¢. Nothing crazy, but still useful especially for those addicted to in app purchases I guess. It’ll be interesting to see what type of benefits they offer at the different reward levels and what type of spend is required to hit each level.
