If you haven’t followed the Air Canada/Aeroplan drama I’d recommend read this post. To summarize Air Canada sold the Aeroplan loyalty program in a spin off, then tried to launch a competing loyalty program years later only to end up repurchasing Aeroplan. Air Canada will still launch a new loyalty program in 2020 and existing Aeroplan members will be rolled into that new program.
Today Air Canada & American Express announced that they would be renewing their partnership for another ten years. They also announced that American Express will launch new card products for that program, although I suspect that will be strictly for the Canada market as currently TD Bank has the rights to co-branded Air Canada cards in the United States.
