American Express is requesting 4506-C forms for cardholders that have been hit by a financial review (1,2). Interestingly it seems they are requesting these forms from cardholders that have already undergone a financial review and had their account reopened if no 4506-C was requested. It’s unclear how long the ‘look back’ period is but it’s at least two months.
In September Citi requested 4506-C forms for some Citi Strata Elite cardholders, before finally waiving the annual fee for those affected. It’s unclear what is driving these 4506-C requests, I can’t think of any relevant legal changes but maybe it’s AI gone wrong.
