Update 9/4/20: More people are getting points now.
In July American Express clawed back/didn’t award points on some grocery purchases made on Hilton cards. Cardholders made purchases using this card as American Express was offering 12x Hilton points on grocery purchases from May 1 – July 31. At the time it seemed like most people that were affected had purchased gift cards and the terms stated:
Eligible purchases are purchases for goods and services minus returns and other credits. Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, balance transfers, cash advances, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, purchases of gift cards, person-to-person payments, or purchases of other cash equivalents. Hilton Honors Bonus Points you earn with your Card will be posted to your Hilton Honors account up to 12Â weeks after the end of your billing period.
In the last week there are a few datapoints (1, 2) of people having these points post successfully. Unfortunately the vast majority of cardholders are not seeing these points post.
