American Express seems to have sent out a number of e-mails in error. Some readers are reporting receiving an e-mail reminding them “[t]here’s still time to get up to $50 back”. The e-mail discusses earning $5 back on purchases at small businesses when spending $10 or more. Unfortunately the e-mail relates to a small business Saturday that is currently running in New Zealand. Other readers reported receiving an e-mail reminding them of the Apple Pay deal where you could earn $10 by making three purchases even though that deal has now ended.
Update: American Express has now sent out an apology e-mail:
We’re writing to let you know that due to a technical error, on December 17, 2020 an email was sent to you related to a Shop Small® offer. This email was sent to you by mistake, and this offer is not valid in the United States. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.
