Original post: Best Buy has announced it will be running an early Black Friday sale on October 13 and 14 (this just so happens to be the same dates asAmazon Prime Day. Target & Walmart also running sales over this period). Best Buy has announced what a few of the deals will be:
- Samsung 70-inch Class 4K Smart TV for only $529.99 (Save $220)
- Laptops starting at $119.99
- JBL Free True Wireless headphones only $69.99 (Save $80)
In addition they have stated they will be offering “Best Buy’s Black Friday guarantee”. If the price of one of the deals goes lower before Black Friday then My Best Buy customers will be automatically reimbursed the difference. Probably not that helpful considering it doesn’t include prices going lower on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
That laptop would be good to donate to a foster kid who needs a laptop for online learning.
Nintendo Switch with a free game on black friday. Anyone not see that coming??
Within a year or 2, i would expect $250 for a bundle pack (free game)
Added the deals from the comments to the post, thanks all
The Best Buy “sale” is a joke. They don’t have any basic laptops on sale, which they will on Black Friday. I will sit this one out.
I disagree. Here is a great deal nowadays for $300. I just bought it for 1st grader.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-ideapad-3-15-laptop-intel-core-i3-1005g1-8gb-memory-256gb-ssd-platinum-grey/6426707.p?skuId=6426707
Also if that is not basic enough for you how about this $120?
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-ideapad-1-14-laptop-amd-a6-series-4gb-memory-amd-radeon-r4-64gb-emmc-flash-memory-platinum-gray/6359222.p?skuId=6359222
I had a feeling that the $120 laptop was going to be one with the 64 GB eMMC hard drive.
At least it isn’t 32 GB like the ones I bought on Black Friday 2017.
Many people who bought those ended up not being able to install Windows 10 updates because the hard drive wasn’t big enough. I ended up doing a clean installation of Windows 10 and then running Disk Cleanup every few months to allow the Windows 10 updates to download and install.
Thank you, when I made the post this morning the Lenovo was not on the Best Buy website. It is a decent price for a basic laptop but Lenovo as a brand is considered inferior to Dell or HP.
For comparison, last year on Black Friday, Best Buy had a Dell i3 touchscreen for $279.
I am not very confident the laptop deal will be as good as the last Black Friday. The laptop deal has been lackluster for the past few months.
There are never good deals on laptops in September and October, in the leadup to black Friday. And there were some really good deals on laptops in July – I got a Dell i3 10th generation for $265.50 and then used the Amex offer and got $75 back making the laptop around $190.
Thank you for the feedback. Is there a site you found that deal or you found it on your own? I have been looking for a good laptop deal like yours and wished I knew it when available. I assume your screen is IPS?
It is not an IPS, the hard drive is a 128GB SSD, and it only had 4GB. However, I easily bought an extra 4GB for $25 and installed it myself very easily. So the total cost for me was $215 for a Dell i3. Unfortunately, Dell raised the price of this laptop and by August it was double the price.
I really think you won’t see any major deals on laptops until Black Friday. It is usually the manufacturers that make special Black Friday models for stores like Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, etc. That is why those models are very cheap and only on Black Friday. If you are looking for a real good deal and you can wait the 5 weeks, I would highly recommend waiting until black Friday. And many times, Best Buy will start selling their Black Friday models a week or 2 before Black Friday.
Thank you once again.
The best Buy Black Friday add is out; unfortunately the deals are not as good as last year. The $299.99 Lenovo is the cheapest basic laptop and they will also have a Lenovo touchscreen for $349.
The Hue lightstrip + extension for $60 is a great deal: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/philips-hue-lightstrip-plus-2m-base-kit-1m-extension-bundle-non-bluetooth/6432027.p?skuId=6432027
The lightstrip on its own usually costs $80 and the extension $25.
Note that it’s the “old” version (v3), not the newest one that was released a few weeks ago (v4). In my book that’s actually a good thing because the two use different connectors (meaning if you buy a v4 extension, you can’t plug it into the v3 lightstrips you already have), and the v4 doesn’t have any third-party accessories available yet (e.g. Litcessory). Specs-wise I think they’re identical as far as light output goes, and I believe the v3 is slightly thinner. I’ve been trying to buy a v3 for weeks and it’s been sold out everywhere so I’m glad this came up.
Note that the v3 doesn’t have Bluetooth, meaning you have to use a Hue hub to control it. I doubt that’d be an issue for most people because if you want a Bluetooth lightstrip there are much cheaper options out there, the whole point of paying extra to get the Hue one is to integrate it with the rest of your lighting setup.
Thanks for this info! I’ve got a Hue Strip and Bulb which illuminate our skylight/foyer in a way that’s amazing – you can’t see the strip but the light shines upwards from the top of teams. I wanted to have the same thing in another area near by, but don’t like paying FoolPriceâ„¢ for stuff. The generic ‘works with Hue’ stuff was also 49 or 59 and supposedly worked with the Hue Bridge natively, but I was skeptical… We tie everything into HomeSeer and it works great.
if you want one of the best value robo vacuums, the Deebot T8+ is now on sale for $450 (from 699):

“this just so happens to be the same dates as Amazon Prime Day”
I thought Amazon Prime day is 13-14, not 14-15.
Correct. Per the Best Buy release, their dates are also October 13-14. https://corporate.bestbuy.com/best-buy-kicks-off-black-friday-on-oct-13-14/
William Charles ?
Fixed
The thing about best buy is they won’t refund you if the price drops lower on Black Friday. Their price match guarantee doesn’t cover holidays. Only option is to return it and buy it again on Black Friday day if it goes lower.
You buy the newer lower price and return that exact item with the older recipe…. as long as the sku isn’t different of course.
Use a credit card with price protection when going into Black friday, then. Wells Fargo cards have $250 per item / $1000 per year coverage of price protection.
I feel like you didn’t click the link. They’re doing something new now called “Black Friday Prices Guaranteed*”
My Best Buy® members get our Black Friday price guarantee.
If our price goes lower on any of the items below prior to November 28, 2020, we will send you a refund for the difference. Refunds valid for My Best Buy® members only. See full details.

Glad to see they’re bringing back the Brack Friday Bunduru
It’s going to be a blood bath
Are they even still allowed to call it Black Friday?
I suspect amazon et al are going to cannibalize their Black Friday sales
I love watching these big corporations battle to the death over customers and sales.
It’s like when evil villain fights evil villain in the movies. Love it.
Just wait until Amazon is the only evil villain
Lets hope that this does not happen
Et tu, Walmart?
Best Buy actually had a good run on last Black Friday. For many types of items, it’s better than Amazon.
55″ 4k HDR Roku TV for $200 was one of the best deals I’ve ever gotten.
