The Bilt credit card and loyalty program announced today that their points now transfer over to Southwest Airlines at a 1:1 value – one Bilt point will convert to one Southwest point.
You can see the full list of transfer partners in our Bilt review. Southwest isn’t the necessarily the most valuable one, yet it’s always nice to have another tool in the toolkit available when needed.
Transfers are not instant and might take a few days, Frequentmiler reports, but they are slated to eventually become instant transfers.
I’m all for more options; it’s just a shame that Southwest is rapidly (pun intended) becoming more like Spirit, assigned seats, charging for bags, etc., and devaluing its rewards program, so regardless of this seemingly ‘good’ news with Bilt, it just falls flat.
(for those with thick skulls, the pun is that Southwest’s rewards program is called Rapid Rewards)
Just wish they added singapore airlines
A little late Richard…
I think this is big, despite the devaluation.
It just means more devaluations are on the way.
My bet is they are trying to soften the devaluation by adding more transfer partners.
This would have been a bit more appealing 2 months ago
Why do you think they did it now and not then 😉
SWA should have become a Bilt transfer partner and done a big transfer bonus before the devaluation. They could have locked up millions of SWA points. Missed opportunity.
Right, I meant for Bilt. They’re now buying SWA points for way less than they would have had to pay 2 months ago.
