Booking platform bookit.com has suspended operations, posting the following notice on their website:
In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Crisis now unfolding, BookIt.com has paused normal operations, and the international destinations we service have closed their borders to arrivals.
Due to the nature of this unprecedented pandemic, we have had to close our call centers in Florida, Jamaica, and El Salvador. This, effectively, means that we will be unable to provide agent assistance in cancelling any upcoming trips.
BookIt also states that they are in the process of cancelling all upcoming trips. Customers with bookings have reported that:
- They’ve been unable to leave resorts without payment as the resort is stating the trip has not been paid for (despite paying in full through bookit)
- They’ve been unable to receive any sort of refund or communication
You can view more complaints customers have been making on Twitter. If you have an existing booking with Bookit.com it might be worth contacting your credit card issuer to discuss your options.
