Capital One Venture X Business Loses Priority Pass Non Lounge Access (Restaurants & More)

Update 5/9/24: Looks like those with the Mastercard version still have access, whereas new cardholders with the Visa version do not.

In March it was announced that the Chase Sapphire Reserve & Ritz-Carlton card would lose access to non-lounge spaces such as restaurants, cafes and markets. The Capital One Venture X Business card has also lost access to these non lounge spaces, it isn’t clear when this change happened and there was no warning unlike the Chase change. The cards did recently switch from running on the Mastercard payment network to running on the Visa payment network so the change was likely made then. You can compare the different levels of Priority Pass access here (although this page needs heavy updating).

  • DO NOT USE Capital One Travel Portal to book their tickets. The ticket price they quote on their travel portal is inflated, they charge more for the same fare you actually book through the airline and worst of all, they force you to book hotel and air ticket through their price-inflated travel portal in order for you to get your $300 travel credit. I had booked a jet blue flight that Jet blue charges $64 on jet blue website but Capital One Travel Portal charges $94, same fare class, same date and time and Capital One Travel refuses to acknowledge that they are duping their Venture X card holders with inflated price.

    • I thought this was well known, they also price match any price and give you 5x back on that. It's a good deal actually.

  • Kind of funny how everyone here blames this on the banks but not one blame on PP and the greedy airport restaurants...

    • Why are the airport restaurants greedy? Is it only fair for you to play the game and reap all the benefits? This game is a two-way scheme. You don't like it, try creating your own lounge and restaurant and paying for it. Ill be glad to visit you often.

      • Oh, the best reasoning ever: "don't like it, do it better". yay! wanna know why? the useless liquid rule for one?

  • quite literally why I signed up for this card. I wonder if we have some sort of recourse

  • Sadly I feel like it's just a matter of time before all cards drop restaurant access...

  • I was contemplating getting rid of my Chase Sapphire Reserve for the Capital One Venture X Business. CSR PP restaurants end on June 30, 2024. C1VX Personal ended PP restaurants in early 2023. Hopefully Capital One opens lounges in BOS and TPA. I will be making the most of the Chase Sapphire lounge in BOS until then.

  • Haven’t used PP in the longest time. Maybe the lounges are better in Europe and Asia with their generally better infrastructure? However, here in the US it’s either Delta lounge or Centurion. PP has no lounge at ORD, DEN, SLC, LGA, JFK, MIA, LAX, PBI…

    • Can't vouch for the other airports you cite, but in the past few months I've used PP for lounge access at the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at JFK and the Turkish Air lounge at MIA. In the case of JFK at least, and I've seen similar for other airports on the PP app, since there are multiple terminals, your lounge options will depend on which terminal you're flying out of.

    • yea cause you're in the US where service and things in general is garbage, but at least we make the most money...on a median anyway

    • Too many people in the US have Priority Pass access so it usually results in overcrowding when lounges accept it. Several of those airports used to have Priority Pass options but the lounges were forced to discontinue their priority pass relationships.

    • I can also vouch for 'way better in Asia'; check out the options at ICN (and even the lowly GMP). I go through there outbound at least three times a year.

    • way better in Asia. Even the tiniest of the airport had decent lounge in SEA with some hot food and good seating
