Cardcash now has a subdomain to exchange gift cards for Hotels.com gift cards, I’m not sure how new this partnership is as reader Information Booth only recently pointed it out to me. They also do this with eBay, Amazon and previously Walmart (actually they now do this with the following brands: eBay, GameStop, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, CVS, Hotels.com, Dell, Sears, Toys R Us, Staples). The rate they offer on the sub domain seems to be higher than that they offer when you go through the main site.
Obviously to see if this is of any use we need to compare this to the cash price CardCash would offer and the top cash price according to giftcardwiki (obviously do your own comparsions if you have access to bulk rates).
- $100 Walmart giftcard:
- Hotels.com: $103.24
- Cash rate: $89
- Best cash rate: $90
- $100 Target gift card:
- Hotels.com: $98.60
- Cash rate: $85
- Best cash rate: $86.50
Difference in rates look quite significant based on the limited searches I did. I love Hotels.com gift cards but it’s important to note you can frequently get them for a 20% discount plus credit card rewards points. When you look at it from that perspective these higher rates become much less attractive. The other thing to keep in mind is that CardCash has a well deserved reputation of being an absolute nightmare to deal with, so if you do decide to use this option make sure you keep that in mind.
