FYI, they give you a temp card number at approval to use for online purchases, but I’ve found it doesn’t work 90% of the time. You get a denial and a text message that says “Your temporary card information only works for certain purchases.” It’s bizarre. This includes Amazon purchases. Not a big deal, but if someone’s relying on using the card right away in that first week before your physical card arrives, be wary.

Thinking about applying for this card for P2. If I add myself as an AU, does that negatively effect my 5/24 status?
Edit: I guess the offer is expired, but question still stands in general.

Citi does not report business cards to the personal credit bureaus, so adding yourself as an AU (or in this case more accurately to say as Employee) does not affect you at all.

Edit: I should probably make even more generic statement. Even the banks which do report (some) business cards to credit bureaus (such as Capital One or Discover …. which is now purchased by Capital One anyway) report it only for the account owners. They do not report it to Employee’s reports either.

Chase, Amex, Citi do not report business cards to personal bureaus even for the main account holder, not to mention Employees.

So, you are totally safe.

Just some disclaimers:
Went to buy 3 Visa GC at Office Depot, was denied for “fraud reason” on the terminal. I called immediately, they said that it was unlock and suggested to try in a different terminal (only 3 terminals and the guy said that the 2 other were closed), I asked a manager that accepted to make me pay at the shipping station (another terminal). And I had been still declined.
When calling Shitty bank (sorry CityBank, it’s my pronunciation), they said that the previous CS did a good job and unlock it but still said that it’s better to try another OFFICE DEPOT !!!! (false because my online account still shows it as unlocked). I TRIED ANOTHER one that is 10 miles from here and I was locked again ! So I suspect they block the purchase of gift card but they don’t talk about it on their term and conditions. Again I had a bad customer service with this bank and I confirm this bank is a bank ti churn and not to keep. My 2 cents
Best regards.

My guess is Citi fraud systems are slow to unlock a blocked card and not related to the VGC per se. From experience, Citi can be slow to unlock a blocked card.

DP: I had a biz card recently with sole prop ssn. I applied for a second one with sole prop and ein (still have to enter ssn as well)

The AA biz account was new, but the citi online accounts got linked automatically. And no bonus offer attached. So sole prop with ein does not work, Maybe it needs to be a completely different business name, or even LLC

Seconding this DP. I saw this and decided to try it out anyway. During the application I put my EIN, SSN, and then personal AA number but left the business AA number blank (hoping they’d create a new one). It appears they decided to link the sole prop non-ein and the sole prop EIN account solely from the fact that I used my personal AA number (or they matched SSNs which would be weird because this, AFAIK, would pierce the corporate veil but I digress).

There’s still one last possibility that if you leave both personal AA, and business AA blank in the application that it’ll work if someone decides to give it a whirl.

on similar boat here, I got approved on April 2021 for this card n collected the bonus a few months after this… in biz structure I wrote: Solo Prop n in tax ID my EIN, in the personal area obviously my ssn… now my questions are… 1- can I now apply as sole prop ssn? 2- if I get approved it means I will get the bonus? (I understand there is no pop up windonw on citi as in Amex to warn me that I wouldnt qualify in that case). 3- since the new citi rules seems to be linked to the number of AA FF numbers and not precisely to he person, should I create a new AA biz loyalty number? I ask this cuz I only have a personal one… in tht case, 4- should I write that number on my new application as SP SSN? Thanks

I know of people that have been shut down for applying for cards with different FF numbers.

They will create a separate loyalty number for you. you do not need to create one. You can merge the points with your personal FF account

Do they create a separate AA biz loyalty account now even if you apply for biz as a Sole Prop with SSN? I have multiple DPs they do that for corporations with EINs, but if you apply as a Sole Prop with your own SSN, will you also get a separate biz AA account?

The AA Business program requires 5 “employees”). Anyone have a work around if you don’t have 5? No, I cannot add family. friends, etc. I tried to create an AAdvantage Business account with only 1 employee and it will not accept it. The credit card bonus miles must go to an AAdvantage Business account, not an individual’s.

Strange. I was able to open an AA Business account with only myself. And the Aadvantage Biz card connected to that no problem.

I opened it with just myself also but I do NOT receive any miles for travel in the business account because there is only 1 traveler. I receive the usual miles in my personal account for travel.

You do not need to create AA Biz account.. if you are approved for the card the Biz Account will be created for you. Just provide your personal AA account number in the corresponding field and leave the biz AA account field blank. And you will be able to access it with the same login as personal, from your personal profile

Is Citi tough on applying the 48 month rule if you received a bonus for a personal card last year and now apply for the business card in the same card family (American Airlines Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard)?

The 48 month rule applies to the cards individually. You can get the bonus offer on each product, personal and business.
