Earlier today, we wrote about the many changes that will take place on the Citi Prestige card in July 2017.
One issue which people were asking about is whether these changes are already in effect for new cardholders. If someone applies now will they get Admirals Club access, Golf Benefit, 1.6 CPP redemption, etc., until July 2017?
The Citi website no longer lists the Admirals benefit, Golf benefit, etc., and some are assuming that the change already occurred for new cardholders since a few days ago when the web page changed.
Based on a reliable source close to the matter we were able to confirm that new cardholders who apply today for the Prestige card will get all the same benefits as existing card members (the ‘old terms’) until July 23, 2017, when it changes for everyone.
This information is true as of today (and for those who applied over the past few days as well). It is possible, however that applications some time later in the year will be different from the get-go. More likely, perhaps, is that it will change for everyone at the same time on July 23, 2017, irrespective of when you apply.
Since people were asking about this and I saw confusion about this elsewhere too, I decided to put this as a stand-alone post. We’ll add this information to the original post about the Prestige changes as well.
