Update 2: When you call say that others have gotten 5,000 points and that’s what you should get as well.
Update: Some are saying it’s just a website issue and Citi has inserted the wrong image on the Premier card. Still worth calling in and asking, especially if you applied with the gas image on the page.
Citi has updated their website and it now says that the Citi Prestige will earn 3x ThankYou Points on travel including gas purchases.
What’s weird is that the website’s fine print doesn’t mentioned gas, at first I thought that perhaps Citi had used the wrong graphic but I was able to confirm that this was not the case and that travel will include gas purchases. What’s interesting was that they said that this was supposed to be for new cardholders only, but they were able to give me 5,000 points as compensation and add 3x gas to my account as well. I doubt they’ll extend the 5,000 points to everybody, but it’s worth a call just to get the 3x gas bonus added to your account.
I’m kind of surprised that this change has taken so long, the Citi Premier had 3x on travel including gas added as benefit as of April 19th, 2015Â and has a much lower annual fee of $95 compared to the Citi Prestige’s annual fee of $450.
