Our Verdict

This is the first time we’ve seen Citi offer a transfer bonus to Turkish Airlines. Turkish Airlines was added as a transfer partner roughly a year and a half ago. Keep in mind the fuel surcharges Turkish Airlines charges. For a full list of other transfer bonuses Citi has offered, click here.

Also worth remembering that you’re supposed to have to go into a Turkish Airlines ticket office to get award tickets ticketed, although there has been a scattering of reports of it being possible by phone or even e-mail. I wouldn’t rely on that actually working though.

I hope someone can provide a data point. I’m still waiting on TK points to post that I transferred from TYP at noon on Friday. All blogs said “1 day” and I took the chance based on that. Now I’m afraid the flight I want is going to sell out of award space. Any help would be appreciated. I’ve contacted TK and Citi. TK “is looking into it” after I kept tweeting them. Citi said the miles are shown as confirmed transferred out of my account and were deducted. Names match except for middle initial present on my Citi account, and TK didn’t allow for middle initial

They also have an award sale now, -30% miles for various destinations.

If you’re booking a reward entirely on TK metal then you can book online.

36k TYP one way to Europe in J is pretty decent if you live in a city TK flies to. The fuel surcharges are there, but not as steep as you see booking LH group flights with Aeroplan/ANA/Krisflyer.

I booked on TK last year to/from Istanbul. Booked online without any issues.
