Some people are being targeted on their Discover card to get 5% back on Amazon for Q3 2017 on top of the standard 5% that everyone gets at restaurants as the Q3 category. Perhaps they are targeting those who’ve been known to spend money on Amazon with their Discover card.
Sounds to me like the 5% Amazon is separate from the 5% restaurants in which case you’d be able to get the 5% on $1,500 in Amazon and another 5% on $1,500 in restaurant purchases.
Check your Discover accounts to see if you were targeted, and activate the offer. No luck for me, but check the main page, under pending activity). If you were targeted, there’ll be a box that said Click to Activate Amazon for Q3.
