Our Verdict
The big question is what will happen to these sorts of vouchers if Etihad files for bankruptcy, my guess is that they aren’t secured so you’d lose the value but I’m not certain on that. I’m also not sure how likely it is that Etihad would file for bankruptcy. The deal itself seems great, although you’d want to be confident that you’d be able to actually use the vouchers within two years. For me there are too many risks involved so I’ll pass, but it is a tempting deal and I could see why some would go for it.
