The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Etsy teamed up with American Express for a Shop Small promotion to get a $10 Etsy credit when you spend $20+ at Etsy on December 4th or 5th. $10 credit will be valid throughout December.
  • Separately, there is an Amex Offer deal to get $10 back or 1,000 Membership Rewards points when you spend $40 at Etsy, valid through December 17th.

Our Verdict

You’ll land up with $10/1,000 for spending $40, plus a $10 credit to use for the future. Stack with a shopping portal as well. Could be useful for holiday shopping.

The Amex Offer you’ll have to enroll, the Etsy deal looks to be triggered automatically when spending $20+ at Etsy with an Amex card.

I wanted to buy something where the seller processes through paypal. Will the deal still work?

If I wanted an Amex card just for Amex offers, what would be best?

So many factors in play, you aren’t going to get an answer here.

Does the type of card affect offers (other than Buisness v Personal)? If you shop groceries I like my Blue Cash Preferred. (Annual fee waived first year, but if you max out the $6000 calendar year grocery category that’s $360 back at 6%.)

You should want an Amex card just for MR points so you can get 20% off at Amazon. Of the MR earning cards, it depends how much you value Promotional extras vs. annual fee. The everyday card would be the obvious, easy answer with no AF. However, I have 4 Amex cards and I tend to find that the Gold card gets the most offers.

Probably worth noting the credit must be used by 12/31.

Edit: Oops, just saw that it says credit is valid through December.
