Google Launches Google Play Points Loyalty Program

Last year it was rumored that Google would launch a rewards program, since then a program has been running in Japan & South Korea. Google has just announced Google Play Points has now launched in the United States. There are four different tiers as follows:

Points expire after one year of inactivity (earning or redeeming counts as activity). Points can be redeemed for items on the Play store or used to make donations to charities as well. I personally don’t really make any purchases on Google play, but for those addicted to mobile gaming or that do most of their digital purchases through the Play store I can see his being useful.

I use a Google Play balance to pay for YouTube TV, mostly because I can often get giftcards at a discount, but also because of Google Opinion Rewards. The post claims that it’ll work with subscriptions. We shall see. If I can turn reward points into more free play credit, I’ll surely take it to further lower my YTTV cost.

Very great idea! The points can be directly converted into Google Play credits (which as you mention can be used for YouTube TV) so you should indeed be able to cash in on this strategy.

It certainly can be. Even if not clinical/scientific some people can spend an unhealthy amount of time and/or money on them with serious negative impacts.

Yeah, a lot of mobile games are basically gambling in disguise.
