Our Verdict
We’ve seen HEB offer this kind of deal many times before. In the past, buying a variable-load card, e.g. a $500 card, worked for some, but not for others. Yet others are told they can’t use a credit card at all, only debit.
Even buying $100 Visa card could make sense on its own since the $10 covers more than the activation fee, plus you get a grocery multiplier.
There are a few other pretty good gift card coupons available at HEB, including $10 for $50 of Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, Google Play, and more deals.
To stack these deals, use one of the many cards that are earning a bonus in the grocery category now, or use a card that always earns a bonus at the grocery.
Hat tip to reader Teresa
tried to liquidate a vanilla vgc with selected own pin# for a MO @ a grocery store but keep getting a ‘not authorized’… card balance still has $500; any folks had similar difficulty or had a solution? Thx
are you supposed to run the $10 H-E-B gift card with the rest of your purchases, then it becomes free? or is it supposed to come out automatically with your receipt? I was expecting the latter; didn’t happen. I was trying with a $500 variable so that might have been the issue.
any DP that the discount applies to a $500 vanilla vgc?
Two contradictory DP’s are linked in the content of the original post.
I confirmed that it does work with the $500 Vanilla VGC. Tried it out just now.
Tried it today and worked for me on a variable.
yep, variable works… although had to select its digital coupon for a 1-time use
What does the second part of your sentence mean?
Yes, that’s how digital coupons work, and the screenshot in the original post shows that you need to Clip it. Maybe DoC didn’t make that clear and that’s what you’re mentioning.
