Card has now been launched, you can read our full review here.
During a recent conference call Allegiant Air shared some more information about thir co-branded credit card that will be issued by Bank of America (we first heard about this card back in January of this year). Here is the most interesting information:
- Card will launch by June 30th, 2016 (other sources state that it’ll be happening in September)
- There won’t be any frequent flier program introduced (the airline wouldn’t have a traditional frequent-flier club, but instead a credit card that would reward customers with travel incentives on their purchases)
- “I keep referring to this as the world’s first ‘un-frequent-flier’ program” – Brian Davis, vice president of communications
- Aim of the card is to get cardholders to think about the Allegiant brand the 51 weeks of the year they aren’t on vacation
- It also looks like they will be actively mining the data of their customers to get a better understanding of their customers
- All of the details of the card have now been finalized between Allegiant and Bank of America

I suspect if you use the Allegiant credit card to book flights, you won’t have to pay the $8 credit card booking fee. It’ll be interesting to see how the rewards structure actually works, although I assume it’ll be similar to Southwest (where points have a fixed value) or Flexperks (where they have a fixed value in different tiers). Fingers crossed for a decent sign up bonus when the card launches!
