Issues With Chase Sapphire Reserve $150/$300 Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables Credit

One of the benefits of the Chase Sapphire Reserve is a semi annual $150 credit for dining at restaurants that are part of our Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables. Unfortunately many cardholders have been having issues with this credit, even when dining at restaurants that appear on the limited  Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables list.

The issue seems to be occurring when the restaurant uses the Toast POS system/reader. For whatever reason this doesn’t code as restaurant (this seems to be across all cards, not specific to CSR) and no credit is issued. You would think that manually requesting the credit would cause it to post, but Chase are denying these claims. For example this reddit poster dined at rays on the river, an eligible restaurant. The purchase coded as “TST*RAYS ON THE RIVER” and Chase denied the credit.

Given how selective Chase are being on eligible merchants you would think that they would check to see if payment readers coded correctly or at the very least manually apply the credit when it’s clear an issue has arisen.

To avoid this issue I’d recommend not paying with a wireless card reader if at all possible at these restaurants, although most places using Toast for their reader would also be using it for their register as well so this might not actually help.

When contacted for comment Chase provided the following information:

We are aware of and actively addressing this issue. We are also proactively awarding credits to any cardmember who did not receive one prior to this being identified, including the customer whose Reddit thread you flagged.

Should you have any readers reach out to you about not receiving a credit they were eligible for, feel free to share with me so we can address.

Here is another example of a related issued with delaying / denying credit for no reason at all. Really bad customer service.

I received my new CSR card on 6/28. Used the card on 6/30 at one of the Sapphire Reserve flagged restaurants.

Registered the card on OpenTable, made booking on OpenTable, and paid directly with the restaurant without a wireless or third party service. Restaurant is Kiran’s which is one the 12 CSR restaurants in Houston.

No credit applied. Messed up replies from Chase CSR SM as follows:

1-    On 7/10: Please wait 6-8 weeks

2-    On 9/4: We confirm the purchase made at Kiran’s Restaurant on June 30, 2025 for is eligible for the credit. We apologize for the delay, but ask you to allow more time for the credit to systemically post to your account.

3-    On 9/10: After reviewing your purchase with KIRAN’S RESTAURANT, we determined that that transaction did not qualify to earn a statement credit, as this restaurant is
not in the list to earn the credit. We apologize for the information that was provided in the previous email.

I complained about their second reply when that asked me to wait longer after already waiting more than 8 weeks. However, I am really shocked with their third reply. Restaurant is clearly listed on the website and also on the disclosure. I replied back telling them really that they have no idea what they are saying and how their service quality suck. I attached to my reply links and screenshots showing that Kiran’s is eligible!!
Waiting for another reply. May have to send a letter to the executive office.

Odd, its the exact opposite with the Resy credit. Ill use my delta platinum business at Resy restaurants online for pickup IF they use the toast POS as it will flag the Resy credit.

When my P2 got the card in July we looked up qualifying restaurants and found 5 or 6 in Edinburgh that we planned to try out. Then when we got to Edinburgh in August, the site only showed US restaurants on the list. Did they cut all the Ex-US restaurants from the credit with no warning?

“Issues With Chase Sapphire Reserve”

That should’ve been the end of the title… New card is dog shit

I love it when people (in this case, Chase) fail to do something they promised to do, and then say they are “proactively” responding to an event that has already occurred. Reacting to a problem isn’t the way being proactive works.

If you live in Atlanta, The Garden Room is supposed to trigger the credit. However, The Garden Room is part of another restaurant and codes as that other restaurant, so no credit. Really frustrating considering these are restaurants I would normally never dine at if it weren’t for the credit. The toast thing adds to this. These are not cheap places.

Let me get this straight. Chase increased the Annual Fee AF. And this doesn’t even work?

People say this is a big, but it’s actually a feature. Why should Chase do quality assurance before launch when it can get live data points using its own cardholders in the wild. Will this piss off some customers, sure, but Chase assumes most people will stick with their UR system regardless. It’s a position of arrogance, and they are likely correct.

What is really concerning is that Chase was initially denying these credits after further review.
