  • This "deal" is not really a deal. It is only on select flights even if the restrictions are met (no Fridays or Sundays, plus the dates). You'll know a flight is discounted if you see two prices for it, one in gray with a line through it, and one in blue that is $25 less.

I was just checking out DCA to BOS. Here I'm thinking the price will be $60 round trip (2x$59 - 2x$25). No. The only flights which are discounted are the ones which are over $70. So the discount is so minimal because you can book other times which are $59 without a discount. Max "discount" I see is $12 per leg. Lowest price flight I've found with a discount is $72. $72 less $25 comes to $47. Lowest regular priced flight, no promo, is $59. $59-$47 = $12.

    edit:
OK, i see the problem. The BASE FARE needs to be over $50. So the minimum price on Google Flights for the blue basic fare you need is $67ish. $67 is a $50.23 base fare plus $16.49 in taxes and fees. Google flights won't show this to you, of course. They only show the final price. If you are searching for a flight, you need to make sure it is at least $67 on Google Flights...this will save you some time and headaches.

I found a flight DCA-MCO which is $67 one way. After $25 discount it is $42. But this route can usually go as low as $49, so its really a $7 discount.

  • the price of a ticket i was looking at yesterday was $30 less one way before the sale today. with the discount it is $5 more

    • Except the Jetblue-Spirit merger won't close until 2024 at the earliest, so not soon.
