JP Morgan Chase & United Airlines recently renewed their co-branded credit card deal into 2029. As part of the deal Visa will be the payment network for the portfolio and this gives United an additional $400 million this year, it’s unclear how profitable this deal will be for United in the coming years. Chase & United have been negotiating this contract for the last several months, United was reportedly frustrated with Chase last as they saw the Chase Sapphire Reserve directly competing with their offerings. We’ve already seen a leaked memo that the United Club card will be receiving a make over, with a new higher annual fee and 100,000 point bonus as well since this new card deal was announced. United has been widely criticized in recent days due to a massive negative change to it’s schedule change policy.
