Our Verdict

Some people love these kinds of stacking deals, others find it a version of hell. For me, I’d probably go for it if I actually needed these, otherwise I’ll give this a miss. (See this comment about how to best send in the rebate form.)

Just received the correct rebate amount of $300 today. Can’t recall when I mailed the forms but it was sent via usps with tracking.

Rebate Update:

  • Expected rebate amount was $348
  • Received rebate amount $12 via physical Visa prepaid gift card in the mail

Contacted chat support on the Khols rebate website to complain about the missing $336. They confirmed they sent me the wrong amount and will correct it in 7-10 business days. Now I wait…

Datapoint: I sent my rebate documents without USPS tracking. I didnt get any an email saying they got it or anything but I checked on the rebate website and it had a tracker number and an update. it said my rebate was invalid due to the purchase being outside of the promotion date. I called the number on the bottom of the rebate form and talked to a person. She was very cordial and asked for my information as well the purchase date. She also asked to confirm the rebate amount and after a few minutes informed that the rebate should be arriving in a few weeks.

I imagine the dates on the pick up or shipper label throwing them off since I picked the items up a few days later.

USPS tracker says my package was delivered to Kohl’s Rebate Center on 12/25 but I have not yet received acknowledgment. Has anyone else sent in a rebate and received an email yet? When did Kohl’s receive your rebate materials and how long did it take for you to receive an acknowledgment email?

So, do you think the entire Kohl’s purchase was worth the profit? I got $135 Kohl’s cash. Because I don’t buy anything at Kohl’s, I sold it for ~$94.

I got $47 Swagbucks for the initial Kohl’s purchase. Because I bought and used a $500 Kohl’s GC from Swagbucks, I got $20 Swagbucks. I got $25 Chase cashback because I used Paypal (5% with Freedom) to pay for the $500 Kohl’s GC. I followed your great advice.

Combined with all the rebates, I will get ~$522. I paid ~$506 for Kohl’s and $3.57 for the stamps to send barcodes.

After everything, I have ~$10 in profit. While it likely was not worth the time and effort to make $10, I think it was kind of fun to order all these goods. I have much all of the products sitting in my room and unused.

You’re supposed to sell the items. Personally, I sell them all for $5 and they are gone within a week. Use online marketplace apps.

You sold 28+ products for $5 each for a total of $140+? Amazing job! I was looking at eBay, but did not seem worth it because of large shipping fees. I might try OfferUp. Thanks for letting me know.

I would agree that it was probably not worth if if all you made was $10. However, I’m having trouble following your math. Can you tell me a few things: How many items did you purchase, what is your sales tax, what is the amount of the rebate, and what % Cashback did you get from Swagbucks?

I suppose I could have tried selling my items but I just gave most of them away to my coworkers. It was kind of a fun and quirky thing to do.

Another way this kind of offer could be helpful is if you have a new credit card and you are trying to meet a spend requirement for a SUB. That was my situation last year when I did this same deal.

Lana

I also agree that this would be useful for a SUB. Sadly, I had no credit card SUB to complete at the time.

So, I believe it is actually $12 profit instead of more because I sold the $135 Kohl’s cash for ~$94.

Cash Out:
1) 28 items for $559.72 subtotal (each item was $19.99) . I used SHOP15 and got free shipping for a $505.97 total (including $30.21 sales tax).
2) 3 USPS stamps for the 3 envelopes to ship barcodes: $3.57

Total Cash Out: $509.54

Cash In:
1) 10% cashback from Swagbucks for Kohl’s purchase and subtotal of ~$470 after offer15 code: ~$47 / ~4700 SB
2) $20 cashback from Swagbucks for $500 Kohl’s GC on MyGiftCardsPlus: $20/ 2000 SB
3) $25 cashback from Chase for using Freedom and getting 5% cashback with Paypal for purchasing $500 Kohl’s GC with MyGiftCardsPlus.
4) $336 (28 items times $12 per item) total Visa giftcards from Kohl’s (likely not worth full value and closer to 95% value when considering opportunity cost because I already get 5% back on most of my purchases, but I will just assume $336 value for now)
5) $135 Kohl’s cash sold for ~ $94

Total Cash In: $522

Profit: $522-$509.54=$12.46

Is that all correct? Did I make any mistake? You made $50+ in profit considering the full value of the $135 Kohl’s cash, right?

Ahh gotcha! Here are my numbers:

Cash Out:
1) 33 items for $659.67 subtotal (each item was $19.99) . I used SHOP15 and YOUR10 and did in store pickup for a $527.88 total (including $27.52 sales tax, and I used $5 of Kohl’s cash).
2) I also had costs of mailing but idk what they were so they are not included here
Cash In:
1) 6% cashback from Swagbucks for Kohl’s purchase and subtotal of $500.36 afterSHOP15 and YOUR10 codes: ~$30.02 / ~3002 SB
4) $396 (33 items times $12 per item) total Visa giftcards from Kohl’s
5) $175.02 Kohl’s cash which I valued at full price ($150 was issued to be used between 11/30 and 12/11, and $25.02 was “Kohl’s Rewards” which carried over to the next month)
6) Met my SB daily goal for 53 SB 🙂

Total Cash In: $646.57
Profit: $646.57-$527.88=$118.69

I took advantage of the YOUR10 Kohl’s promo code where it looks like you didn’t. But you got 10% cashback from SB whereas I only got 6%. These differences were probably because we placed the orders on slightly different days.

I did not try to sell the items but I might try it next year. I might also try to time it with a credit card SUB.

Amazing job on the $118 profit!

So, what do you buy at Kohl’s to make sure you are getting your money’s worth? I think the main issue is that it expires in <2 weeks instead of lasting forever.

I honestly had no idea what to buy at Kohl’s. I was considering oppt cost and Amazon seemed to be better for any clothes, etc.

That is why I just sold the $135 Kohl’s cash for ~$94.

Anyone know what counts as the “original receipt”? I disnt get a package slip in my order, and some were store pick up some were mailed to me. Do I just print off a copy of my order summary on kohls website?

Ok thanks! I ended up returning them since one wasn’t on the list and I decided it wasn’t worth the hassle. I’ll remember this for next year and try it out more strategically for the holidays. Thanks!

Update: I got most of my order, however, the portions assigned to USPS tracking numbers never shipped. They’ve been stuck in pre-shipment for over a week. So I called Kohl’s and they refunded that part to be at the pre-discount amount (They over refunded me). Call center was obviously in India so no surprise there.

Everything with UPS shipped and I got.

Side Note: I was also undercharged for my order as a whole. I think Kohl’s payment processor screwed up.

“Not valid with any other promotions, with the exception of the Kohl’s Associate discount.” What do you guys think this means? Will they deny it if your receipt says that you applied a discount?  Chuck

Can you imagine if they deny the rebate to all the people who use the codes? People buying $500+ worth of this garbage and wont be able to return it since you have to cut off UPCs.

That being said, this deal has been done for several years now and it hasn’t been an issue. You are basically just getting Kohl’s cash at a discount. For every $1 you spend you get $3 in Kohl’s cash if you combine all the offers and cahsback portal, etc.
