[Expired] Kroger: 4x Fuel Points On Gift Cards This Weekend, Includes Visa/MC (1/30-2/2)

Deal has expired, view more Kroger deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Load the coupons here

Check your Kroger coupons for the following offers:

  • Save a digital coupon to get 4x fuel points on Visa and Mastercard $100, $50, or $25 fixed-value gift cards. (Does not work on variable-load Visa/MC gift cards.)
  • Save a digital coupon to get 4x fuel points on third party gift cards. (Should work on all third-party gift cards.)

You should see these coupons for all Kroger-family brands. Typically, gift cards earn 2x, and occasionally they’ll put out offers like these to bump it up to 4x.

Our Verdict

We haven’t seen this for a while now. The third-party deal is only valid beginning Thursday, 1/30. The Visa/MC deal might work already now, not clear to me. Use a credit card which earns a bonus at grocery stores. There might also be a Chase or Bank of America deal for 10% back at Kroger to stack with this as well.

Has anyone else noticed in other parts of the country that Happy Guy gift cards are no longer available? The Kroger-affiliate Pick n Saves in my area no longer seem to carry them and the HappyCards website no longer lists them. It was a useful way to get more selection by using the HGs to buy GCs at Home Depot and still getting the 4X.

FYI, these 4x deals are both active from yesterday until Feb 18 at Harris Teeter. Must activate digital coupon.

Stan, can the e-vic coupon be used multiple times during the promotional period? Thanks.

The fine print: “Excludes the Kroger Family of Companies Gift Cards, ALL PREPAID RELOADABLE DEBIT CARDS (Green Dot®, MoneyPaks®, 1-2-3 Rewards® Visa), & ALL FINANCIAL FIXED AND VARIABLE LOAD CARDS (American Express®, Mastercard®, & Visa®). “

…So, YMMV on what appears in your account or if it allows MC and Visa GCs

At least what I see (Kroger in mid-Atlantic (VA)) is that there is a different digital coupon specifically for Visa/MC, and only applicable to fixed value (i.e., $25, $50, or $100) gift cards. So, not applicable to the variable load Visa/MC gift cards up to $500. $100 is the highest fixed value where I am. Still, that’s worth it for me for the Fuel Points. I’ll buy whatever other gift cards I’m confident I’ll use and then enough $100 MC to get to the desired level of Fuel Points. FWIW, MC has been more convenient for me than Visa because MC will approve a partial amount, meaning I can just swipe till it’s empty and then swipe the next one.

I was able to log into a different Kroger store type (in my case, Ralph’s) in a different area and I could then apply the coupon to my account. It was not appearing in my regular kroger store account

It’s nice that it straddles the month rollover. You can pick if you want the fuel points to apply to your Feb total or Mar total. Or both if the coupons can be used multiple times.

I reached out to Kroger corporate relations in Dec 2018 (about 13 months ago) and had to really fight for them to issue fuel points on a previous BP gas card purchase. They stated at that time that fuel gift card purchases no longer received fuel points. The only reason I got a one-time exception was because it had just changed and I made the case that those terms weren’t stated in the mobile app (I had taken a screenshot and had to send the screenshot to them). Even with the evidence they were reluctant, but they did post. I’m wondering if the terms changed between fuel card providers and Kroger at that time?

Also check your account for other digital offers that will stack. I’m seeing 200 fuel points for any Subway card, Starbucks etc (all but the $10 cards), although the 200 point bonus itself is fixed (won’t multiply).

Every time I’ve bought Amazon gift cards, I’ve received the bonus points. It looks as if this 4x should work as well.

Any thoughts on if this applies to multiple gcs or limit 1? That seems to be the hang up for me In the past although no one at the stores ever has any clue about these offers.

Can only speak to Kroger, but I’ve been able to use these multiple times during promo period. Best way to check is look on your app to see if coupon is still there after first use.

Thanks. I’m going to try going multiple times and see if I can use it twice. From my experience you can’t buy multiple of the same gift card in 1 transaction and still get the point. Multiple transactions might work though.

Side note for those interested. Gas rewards get split by the month and rewards from one month cannot be combined with rewards from another month. Also in my area I have fred meyer and QFC. For me QFC counts as 4x on Amex gold but fred meyer gets classified as warehouse or something and doesn’t earn 4x on Amex gold
