NFCU is one of the better credit unions for credit cards, they have extremely low APR’s (you should never be carrying a balance to begin with) and often offer 0% balance transfer offers to existing customers. They also have one of the best secured credit cards on the market. Unfortunately they have pretty strict membership requirements.
They recently set out a survey asking their cardholders if they’d like 5% rotating categories or higher cash back on their every day purchases. It seems that the responses were similar to those that the recent capital one survey found. Consumers want a simple rewards program and a higher rate on all their purchases. Today they’ve made some changes to their cash rewards product, which we’ve outlined below:
- Earn 1.5% cash back on all purchases (this was previously 1% on the first $10,000 and then 1.5% thereafter)
- Selected cardholders have received a targeted offer where they will receive $50 or $100 when they spend $500 within three months
- They’ve also removed the $100 sign up bonus this card had previously
This isn’t a massive change as there are a lot of cards that earn at 1.5% or higher (view our list of cards here to find out how to get up to 3%). It’s also disappointing to see that they’ve removed the cash sign up bonus on this card.
Do you have the NFCU cash rewards card? Did you receive the $50 or $100 targeted offer? Send them a secured message if you aren’t sure.
