Barclaycard regularly sends out targeted spending bonuses each quarter. These have just gone out for Q1 2017, so check your e-mail and keep an eye out for these offers (sometimes they also snail mail them out or they’ll show up in your account). Here are the offers people have reporting receiving:
American Airlines Aviator Red
- Earn an additional 25% miles, up to a maximum of 5,000 miles via Will Run For Miles.
Miles & More
- Earn an extra 2x miles per $1 spent on gas stations, utilities & restaurants, up to a maximum of 2,500 miles.
Wyndham
- Earn an extra 2x points per $1 spent, cap of 2,500 points via reader @FBA4Miles.
Our Verdict
The 2x extra point/miles offers aren’t the best, the ones I love are spend $XXX per month for 3 months and get 5,000-15,000 extra points/miles. I don’t like the extra 2x points because it’s capped at 2,500 bonus miles/points. Feel free to share any offers you get in the comments below.
2x miles (up to 2500 miles) at gas stations, utilities, and grocery stores on Arrival.
Regular Arrival or Arrival+ ?
JetBlue Plus: $750 in each of Jan, Feb, March -> 10k
Spouse and I both got spend $2500 per month nov-April and get 30k bonus miles on red aviator. Son got spend $500 per month oct-dec and get 5k bonus miles on Hawaiian.
No offers on Arrival+. Irritating.
Spend $750 in each of January, February, and March for 10,000 bonus points on the annual-fee Wyndham card. I already have 47k Wyndham points and my planned redemption fell through (Wyndham Aruba is no longer a Wyndham), but I might go for this anyway. A free Wyndham night for $2250 in spend doesn’t seem terrible.
Also got 25% bonus on miles with the Aviator Red card. This seems pretty weak; I could already get 1.25 AA miles per dollar of spending with my SPG card, if I valued AA miles highly enough to warrant transferring Starpoints.
Spouse also has the Wyndham card, but has not yet received an offer.
Aviator Red:
spend $500/mo for 3 months, get 15k miles (AF due in January).
I called to waive the annual fee (second year that they’ve done this), and the nice CSR also said my account had “Spend $1000, get 5000 bonus miles” which overlaps nicely.
Oddly, this is for my boyfriend’s card, mine expires in March, and I don’t get these offers, nor do I get the annual fee waived, despite having the same spending pattern. Ugh, Barclays…
Got two similar offers via email today:
1. On AAviator Red MC: 1.25X everywhere 1/1/ thru 3/31, maximum of 50o0 bonus miles
2. On Frontier MC: 2X at gas stations, utilities & restaurants 1/1/thru 3/31, maximum 2500 bonus miles
Neither is particularly attractive – AA miles are useless (I have a million and there are simply no decent redemptions, I don’t need any more AA points even if they’re free), and Frontier…well, ’nuff said.
Thanks anyway Barclay, but don’t think that’s gonna change my spending.
While I agree that AA miles aren’t great, they’re not useless, at least for international flights. I used 40K for an Air Berlin flight that would have cost 30K Avios. It was a good way to use up some low value miles.
AA miles are useless if you dont use the partner awards. It is of some use if you fly CX and QR.
These days I even conserve DL miles and use AA miles first – need to return home from SLC, DL has daily non-stop flight at saaver while AA requires connection at DFW – I used AA miles instead. Finally whittled it down to 600K combined balances after booking some CX and QR flights.
Received a 25% bonus, and in a separate promotion email immediately after received spend $500 in Jan / Feb / Mar and receive 15k bonus. So I assume they’ll stack and will receive 11.25 per dollar on $1,500 in Q1 spend.
I don’t think you’ll get the 25% bonus on the 15k bonus though
I think one of your emails was meant for me. Please forward it to me and don’t say a word to anyone.
If history is a guide, yes all Barclays promo stack.
A year ago got the $500 offer in overlapping periods, the 2 overlapping months one $500 counted for BOTH offers. The end result is, spent $500 on 4 consecutive months and earned 2x 15K bonus.
Jetblue card 2x on gas, utilities & movies up to 2500 points
I also got this offer on my jetBlue Plus Card
I received the “Miles & More” offer on my Upromise card (though of course “miles” is translated to “dollars” and “x” is translated into “%”)
Oops, just realized mine was Gas/Utilities/Groceries (not dining)
