To avoid confusion they should rename it to Disney-Minus.

Points Path looks really cool but there’s no way this won’t get a cease and desist in no time.

I am not sure airlines will care that much. Expertflyer used to be a good tool for searching award space, but it was complicated enough to stay a bit of a secret. Personally, I am not too happy about this new method, hard enough to use the rapidly devaluing miles as it is.

The ‘right’ way to do it is to buy the Disney plus cards with the discount, then go on any social media site and complain about being stupid, and get Disney to fix your ‘mistake’ for the correct giftcards (as seen in the last sentence of the linked story). Easy money maker… 🙂

Kinda hard to feel bad for a family that spends $10,000 on Disney GCs not even including flights/hotel. It’s an outrageous amount of money even for a family of 16. Disney fixed their mistake anyway, according to the last line of the article.

They could probably use them at Disney hotels. Still $10k on Disney is awful and I’ll never understand why people spend so much to go there. Albeit I’ve been and had fun but will never go back. I’d rather go on an actual vacation.

I would expect hotels (which if you’re staying on Disney property, can be paid for with a Disney gift card) were probably part of the $10k

It doesn’t seem like they were staying on Disney property. The article says they “…decided to purchase $10,000 in Disney gift cards that could go to [park] tickets and restaurant reservations.”

You haven’t been to disney in a while I see. That comes out to 4 days basic tickets for 16 people. Disney is quite expensive nowadays.

GCs are a racket

Be careful with RetailMeNot, they will randomly shut you down if they think your volumes are too high. Was using them for Lowe’s cash back purchases for my remodeling and 2 months in they closed my account and wouldn’t explain why. Lost hundreds in pending cash back.

Perhaps you ran afoul of one of their limits? I noted the following brought up in the GC Galore article: “There is something important to note if buying gift cards in the RetailMeNot app though. On the FAQs page for their gift card feature it says the following:

Is there a limit of how many Online Cash Back Offers I can use or an individual reward maximum?

RetailMeNot customers can qualify for up to 7 Online Cash Back Offers per retailer within a calendar month. This will count toward your online Cash Back maximum monthly total of 20. Offers also carry a maximum Cash Back Reward amount. You can verify the amount in the Offer Details section of each offer. Please review the following article for more details regarding any limits.”

that’s a lot of Disney+ GCs. I can’t imagine Disney+ GC come in denominations larger than $100.

FYI, that C1 class action was filed in August last year. Not seeing any recent docket activity that suggests a settlement any time soon.

On the plus side that family now has enough Disney+ cash for decades of mediocre ‘live action’ remakes

On the plus side, Disney+ now has enough cash to fund another decade of mediocre live action remakes.
