- Making sure the Hyatt Diamond deal doesn’t get the best of me by As The Joe Flies. Joe basically lists the reasons why Hyatt offer this status match in the first place, to shift your spend to Hyatt. It’s ok to do so, just keep in mind your goals and where you really want to travel to, rather than just thinking about the sweet suite you’ll get.
- New Amex Offers Loaded Today (And Some Expiring) by Running With Miles. Nothing really interesting in terms of reselling gift cards or similar, but still some new offers are available.
- Target: $15 off $50 Select Household Products (Mobile Coupon) by Freebie Shark. Not a lot of options for household products, but still a good deal for those that purchase those items at Target.
- Hyatt Diamonds: (maybe) extend your expiring upgrade certificates through Feb 2017. Act now! by Frequent Miler. I think Hyatt will probably fix this, but probably worth a try if they were going to expire anyway.
- Senator Chuck Schumer Wants to Regulate the Size of Coach Seats. Here’s Why He’s an Idiot. by View From The Wing. I think it’d be more interesting to look at the lowest seat size over time and also the cost of seats. Consumers still have options (and lots of them as airlines continue to introduce different product classes) if they want a bigger seat size. Regulating minimum seat size will just push the cost of airline tickets up.
- Why I insist on pedantically comparing award redemptions to cash by Freequent Flyer. I think everybody should be doing the same calculations as FF, especially when you’re doing manufactured spending for hotel nights. I hear “I got to stay at blah blah for free by doing $20,000 in MS”, well if you put that on a 2% card you would have earned $400 so was the stay really ‘free’? There is always an opportunity cost so don’t fall for that trap.
