According to MEAB Chase will announce the new Chase Sapphire Reserve details on June 17 and the new benefits will go live on June 20. This means if you’re currently eligible for the card you should be able to see what the new benefits and annual fee are before you decide if you want to apply under the current program or the new program. You can see the current rumored changes here.
Go live is June 23

If you’re an existing cardmember or applied for the card prior to June 23, 2025, your benefits and annual fee will remain unchanged through October 25, 2025.
As of October 26, 2025, you will get an additional $1,500+ in annual value with your Sapphire Reserve card. After this date, on your anniversary, your annual fee will adjust to $795 and each authorized user fee to $195.
Could one with the trio (CSR, Freedom Unlimited, Freedom) downgrade the CSR to a different freedom, then apply for the bonus on the Preferred or new CSR?
Does it mean that we will not get the new benefits with the old annual fee?
If they were smart, they’d temporarily suspend the four-year restriction on Sapphires for this relaunch, to pull in some folks who might not recognize the nerfing of the changes.
The 4 year restriction usually only affects churners who are probably very well aware.
PC’d today picked up an interesting sentence from the call. Was told something along the lines of “If the annual fee ever increases you will be receiving a new membership agreement which you can decline/deny if you are not interested.”
Interesting indeed. I PC’d yesterday and asked what the annual fee would be. They put me on hold for a few minutes and came back with $550.
Yes, for this year.
Does it imply that one can opt keep the old annual fee with the grandfathered benefit?
And only the raised annual fee will bring the extra coupon credit?
I think this would be great for those who wants the travel card 3x travel instead of those extra dining and hotel credit benefits.
To me, I would rather pay the higher fee and get those credits.
Does it mean we will not get the new benefits with the old annual fee?
same question. was gonna PC today
This is standard when credit cards change terms. You always have the option to reject the changes. Similarly, the bank has the option to close your account if you do not accept the changes. This isn’t a choose your own adventure. It is you accept the new terms or have the option to reject them and the bank will close your account basically.
I have another two years before I can get the Sapphire bonus again. Also over 5/24 by a decent amount. I’m trying to decide if I should PC to a CSR right now to lock in the lower AF and then be able to triple dip the new benefits before PCing back.
I’m wondering the same. I was looking at over 1000 in credits for $550 annual if we product change now and the changes translate immediately.
How often can you PC to CSR and back to Freedom? Say you’ve taken advantage of the double dip in 12 months and switch back to CFU, how long do you have to wait to PC back to CSR again to start a new double dip cycle?
PC now and think later
Yep I’m wondering the exact same thing. Should I PC my CSP to the CSR now or if its just better to stick with the CSP.
Just paid my annual fee so I’ll be going the “ride out the vibes” route. The credits, if confirmed, come out to at least 1.2k value for me as someone in NYC. We’ll have to see how well they work out in actuality.
I’m also in nyc and paid fee 6/1. while I’m not thrilled about the $800, the rumored benefits line up really well for me so it’s possible that I will keep this going for another year or two.
Was your annual fee charged on 6.1.25? The reason I ask is because my annual fee was supposed to be charged then but wasn’t for some reason. I speculated in the other post that they may be waiting to charge me the higher annual fee.
I was charged a annual fee June 1st. Standard AF no increase.
Was it a PC or new signup? Last year’s AF was on 6/1, I assume?
I signed up for a new CSR for a SUB in early-May of 2024. Yes, my 1st annual fee was charged on 6.1.24. That’s why I expected the 2nd to be charged on 6.1.25. Have you ever heard of something like this happening?
Maybe you won a special free annual fee? No idea on how or why that would happen. If, for some reason, you are charged on 7/1 with a new fee, I’d argue it since by all accounts, your fee was due 6/1 at $550.
I certainly earned it with all of the PYB that I used. 😀
