Samsung Pay Now Works In App

Samsung Pay has added the ability to use it for in app purchases, they have partnered with:

samsung-pay

This is mostly interesting due to the Samsung Pay Rewards program that is now live (and other promotions such as $15 for using a Chase card three times). Fingers crossed we see more promotions that make Samsung Pay useful, I think Samsung Pay is easily the best mobile wallet at the moment because of the fact it doesn’t require near field communication to work (magnetic strip terminals work for example).

How secure is this Samsung Pay? I activated this 3 days ago and now I am getting a fraud alert from Chase Freedom telling me that I have a $137 charge at JCPenney. My account is now frozen. I did use the card at JCP 4 times this month but not this amount.

Qualifying cards are limited. I was able to register 2 of my 4 Chase cards and 1 of my 2 Citi cards. Ink and IHG were no-go’s, as well as my Sears Citi M/C. My Amex Biz Gold and Hilton registered fine. Barclay’s and Discover cards do not qualify.
