Probably a dumb question, but when paying with Discover through PayPal, would the 5% category for Target work with this? I’m assuming not, but wanted to check.

Looks to not work with gift cards. Shows the $5 on Target check out page. Also it appears you don’t have to actually pay with PayPal.

No. You pay with PayPal so you can’t use your red card. You could use your freedom card for 5% back with paypal
How about Bank of America “Cash Rewards Card” with Preferred rewards ?
