[Expired] [Targeted] U.S. Bank: Earn 2% Cashback At Grocery & Pet Stores

Deal has ended, view more U.S. Bank deals by clicking here.

The Offer

No direct link to offer, sent out via e-mail. Subject line is ‘Earn up to $50 on groceries and pet supplies’

  • U.S. Bank is offering 2% additional cash back:
    • Spend $200 or more at Grocery Stores and earn a 2% statement credit per dollar spent, up to $25.
    • Spend $200 or more at Pet Stores and earn a 2% statement credit per dollar spent, up to $25

The Fine Print

  • To be eligible for this offer that runs through October 31, 2021 (promotion period), you need to enroll by September 30, 2021. Cardmember can earn a maximum statement credit of $50.

Our Verdict

Grocery stores is always a popular category. I’m not sure if this is an additional 2% or just flat 2% though. Flat 2% is pretty boring as lots of cards earn that or more on all purchases anyway.

This U.S. Bank spending offer returns today with change in the category. This time it’s for Gas Station purchases.

Email states, “Spend $200 or more at Gas Stations and earn a 2% statement credit per dollar spent, up to $25. That’s on top of the rewards you already earn with your card. Enroll by September 30, 2022. Make your purchases now through October 31, 2022.”

It also includes in-store purchases at the gas stations; fine print states, “This offer is valid for in-store transactions in the Gas Station category and will qualify based on how merchants classify the transaction.”

I don’t like these US Bank offers as there seems to be no easy way to track them.

I interpreted this as incremental as well, so on Altitude Go, it would be 2% for groceries + additional 2%

Expect the 2 or 3 statement cycles before seeing the credit.

I am guessing that the Q4 categories for Chase or Discover won’t be groceries, so getting 4% isn’t bad.

I got this offer in a physical mailer, not email for the Cash+ card.

As Jags wrote, my past experience is that these promotions are incremental and come as a statement credit after the end of the promotion period.

The email subject line is “ Earn up to $50 on groceries and pet supplies”.

I have this on my Altitude Reserve. Based on past promos the 2% is incremental and comes as a statement credit not as additional rewards. If your grocery store takes mobile wallet it’s 3x AR points and a 2% statement credit.
