This post is no longer really applicable due to the fact that Fidelty has left FIA card services & American Express for Visa & Elan.
Membersince2013Â on MyFICO forums has reported receiving information from FIA card services about a few changes that will be made to the American Express Fidelty Rewards card (2% cash back on all purchases & a $50 cash sign up bonus).Â
The following will be removed:
- Ultimate Access (offers entrée to an outstanding selection of marquee events, exclusive opportunities, and unique memorabilia. Redemption options include autographed sports memorabilia, hard-to-get tickets to performances, VIP access to special events, and other luxury services)
- My Concierge
In addition they are also making some updates to the credit card agreement.
If you purchase lottery tickets in the United States with your credit card, it is now classified as a purchase and it is no longer subject to a transaction fee. The credit card agreement language which previously mentioned lottery tickets has been updated to:
Cash Equivalents: by the purchase of foreign currency, money orders or travelers checks from a non-financial institution, or person-to-person money transfers, bets, lottery tickets purchases outisde of the United States, Casino gaming chips, or bail bonds with your card or account number (including though the use of an enabled mobile device).
I suspect these changes will apply to all the Bank of America credit cards that earn WorldPoints, but this is yet to be confirmed. I don’t really use either of the benefits that are being eliminated, so I don’t really care about these changes. As long as the card continues to be an American Express, has no annual fee and earns at a rate of 2% then I’ll be happy.
