The Offer
Many people are reporting the following offer from U.S. Bank; this is found on the banners above the dashboards where they normally advertise CD rates and credit cards; this is different from the “Cash-back deals” portal.
- Spend $150 or more on Dining purchases, get a $10 statement credit. Must enroll by April 30th. Spend between March 11 and May 16.
This offer would seem to work even on multiple smaller purchases which add up to $150; let us know if you try. Separately, some are seeing a Cashback deal:
- Get 10% Cash Back (up to $4) from any restaurants or fast food restaurants.
Our Verdict
Nice offers here. They should stack together if you got both on the same card.
Hat tip to reader Volt
I got this exact offer for my Cash+ right now. Was looking to see if fast food and grocery counts and it seems like it does?
It seems like the “dining category” referenced in the language is for the broad US Bank “Food & Dining” category. This is based on what US Bank is listing on their website.
That means this includes all of the following:
Food & Dining (this is the sub category, I have no idea why they use the same exact name)
Alcohol & Bars
Coffee Shops
Fast Food
Grocery
Restaurants
Does this sound right? Would love to see a few more data points.
Doesn’t sound right, where did you find this list?
Dining probably only includes Restaurants, Fast Food, possibly Bakeries, and maybe Coffee Shops if that’s an actual MCC. Definitely wouldn’t expect Grocery or liquor stores stores to qualify.
I got this offer on my smartly.
For dining category, do only restaurants count or fast food counts too? I think I got credit for Bakery before which is under Food & Dining category on a previous “Dining” offer. I think Groceries is under Food & Dining too. This time I may experiment to see if these count.
In my experience basically anything prepared food related rings up as dining with the. Even those “just baked” vending machines ring up that way. Popeyes had an earn rate of 4x for me on the dining category, so I’d imagine fast food counts.
I did 3+ similar offers showed up on US Prank web dashboard in the last 7 months. I clicked on the enroll twice for each offer to make sure it gets to a page saying I’m already enrolled for the offer. haven’t got any credit yet. reached out to CS in Jan and was promised a response in 2-3 weeks. nothing and no hope yet
would advise others to stay away from the pranks
I have the exact same experience with them. Did you finally get the credit?
Is this web only or in the app too?
I found mine in the app.
I’d rather stick to no fee VCG from Staples @ 5% from Chase Ink. Not worth the USBANK hassle.
meant to say that all my rest, and take out places accept the VGC from Staples.
The US Bank offers do eventually post. It takes 3 statement cycles which is a bit ridiculous.
When using the VGC at a sit-down restaurant, you have to do math and account for the automatic 20% that will get temporarily added to the transaction.
That is correct. Thanks
Can someone share a screenshot of the deal or where this deal was located at? Thanks!
My friend sent me a screenshot of his but I guess I wasn’t targeted. Anyone getting these in additional to Smartly Rewards? These supposed offers look like miniature versions of the Smartly Rewards offers so maybe they are specifically targeting people with these who are otherwise not eligible for special offers.
P1 has smartly and wasn’t targeted, P2 doesn’t have smartly and also wasn’t targeted
Also the spend $100 on gas and get $10 statement credit on USBAR. Interestingly however I got this in the mobile app despite having business cards, so this is contrary to the usual situation of not being able to register for offers when you have biz cards.
The credits will post in 3 statement cycles.
None for me this time. I had $10 back on $75 for groceries at the end of 2024.
I had one for 10% back on >$5 spend on dining up to $4. I spent $44 at a local brewery, which normally codes as restaurants at Citi and other cards, but it says “alcohol and bars” with my US Bank Altitude Connect.. Wonder if I still get the bonus or if I should do it at an actual restaurant?
