U.S. Bank Sends Out Survey Regarding New Card/Changes To Altitude Reserve

U.S. Bank has sent out a survey regarding possible changes to the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card or the creation of a new card (h/t TwG & Professor_Toke). Questions focused on how much cardholders would be willing to pay for certain benefits, if they would be willing to open a bank account/investment account alongside a card and the ability to transfer points. Often these surveys don’t lead to anything, but at the very least it seems U.S. Bank are considering changes.

I got the same survey on my Shopper Cash rewards card. Probably looking for ways to justify fee increases on their annual fee cards

I would hold and take a lower rate on money market at US Bank in exchange for better benefits potentially.

i really hope they don’t change anything with this card. i waited so long to get it, but it’s the best card i’ve ever had, by far. my BoA premier card gets like no play anymore due to this card. that 3x on mobile with a 1.5 multiplier on travel is killer. also love the global entry and the fact that the dining and travel $325 credit. like, at least just keep these things!

I’m about to have a renewal but I’m thinking about product changing. It’s convenient but the $75 effective AF kinda makes it crap for me.

If you were to compare it to the next best catchall, the BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards, AND assuming you can cash out at 1.5x (very easy to buy a plane ticket and return it), then you’re looking at $75/(4.5-2.62)%=$3,989.36 to break even. I would much rather put this $4k of spend towards a new SUB that would have earned at least $400 instead.

It makes sense for people who don’t play the game but I need to remember that I DO play the game.

One of, if not the only cards where you can still use PP for restaurants. Guess that is about to be coming to an end.

8x per year. Not unlimited. Can use all 8 in 1 shot if you like. Unlimited guests, but it uses 1 of your 8 free visits. The limit of 8 is probably why it still exists.

Yes. You only get 8 PP passes per year. And those passes can be used for PP Restaurants. US Bank basically buys full on PP Guest passes for USBAR cardholders

You can also get 4 PP restaurant visits per membership year on the US Bank Business Altitude Connect and the US Bank Altitude Connect. Shhh

To me it sounded more like a Segway to probably partner up with Klarna or Affirm or make their own similar service.

I got the same survey for the Smartly card. I am one of the grandfathered people so I definitely stated that I wanted NO changes to it.

Given they probably want to get people to stop using the card and reduce their portfolio on it, they’re probably going to take that as a sign that they’re going to do ALL the changes to try to kick us off 😂
