The Citi Sears Shop frequently has spending offers where you earn a category bonus for online purchases. Reader Lyte has asked if we would do a community resource where people can ask post what did/didn’t work for them.

I was concerned that the above charge would not count toward last month's online spending bonus because of the Merchant Category.
It counted toward the required spend on the statement that posted the other day.
There is no online offer available for the current period, despite ending a streak of several months for my card.
No one got an online offer last month that I can see, I assume replaced with the array of retail and overall spending offers.
Anyone know if Verizon gift cards bought online directly counts as retail, online, or both?

http://www.discounttire.com didn't count as retail. It also looks like tractorsupply.com didn't either (codes as "Vehicle Services").

did anyone else see the new website? some transactions have a "Pending" tag. does that mean they cant be counted toward the spend until they are no longer "Pending"?
Yeah, I was excited when I saw a smiliar layout a few months ago. Pending is so helpful. But then it went away :(
And yes, pending probably won't count until posted.
My results paying with the store's app (QR code) in the store:
Kroger: I have never been able to use a SYW card as payment (mine or P2's), regardless of whether I am buying gift cards or not. I get an error message. I end up having to choose a different card. Last tried in May 2025.
Harris Teeter: works, and counts as both grocery and online. As of August 2025, I faced a new checkout flow each time, presumably due to purchasing a gift card. The self checkout prompted: 1. For Associate to verify name on ID, and 2. To enter my ID number. I was prompted this even when buying a relatively small ($65) closed loop gift card. But the transaction does go through.
Whole Foods: works and counts as both grocery and online. I have not tried purchasing gift cards this way.

Any chance of a similar list for what counts for the retail spending offer? I was hoping Bestbuy order would count but sadly it did not
