Our Verdict

The 350,000 mile prizes have a value of $6,965 assigned to them and you’re required to pay taxes on them. According to View From The Wing, you can dispute the value of the prize with the IRS to lower your tax obligation. Personally I’ll worry about the 350,000 miles if I actually win them, for now I’ll take the quick and easy 700 miles from American. Entered both my kids who are under 18. Think they’ll get the 700?

Their valuation is actually pretty good. But I’m assuming taxes is not just federal and will include ss Medicare and state taxes as well so one might have to shell out $2k for taxes. IF big IF I win I wonder if I can give it away since I don’t have the $2k for taxes.
