Here is another little round up of things I’ve found interesting recently. Make sure you let me know if you like these little round ups or not.
- The American Express Blacklist Explained & Strategies For Removal by Miles to Memories. Very good article and well worth a read even if you’re not on the blacklist, compulsory reading if you are.
- Free Internet Rules for 2015 across major hotel brands. It’s kind of ridiculous that I can stay at a $10/night hostel room and get in room WiFi but when I pay $200+ some chains still want to charge me for WiFi use. This is why I hate chain hotels and will avoid them whenever possible. Soon they will be advertising free color television. Still this is a useful reference article.
- Switching between Bluebird, REDbird, and Serve by Frequent Miler. I think I must be the only blogger still using Serve and patiently waiting for Softcard to start offering some promotions again.
- FREEBIE: Get $72 Credit from Carmel Car and Limo Service by Will Run For Miles. Seems relatively easy, who has used this service before? Is $72 enough for a completely free ride?
- “Federal regulations and some customer abuse” by Pfdigest. As PFD notes, it’s surprising that they had to make changes to this rewards checking account that only offers 2% APY on up to $25,000. There are a lot better options out there.
- Pure Speculation: Chase Is ReEvaluating All Hotel Credit Cards by Chasing The Points. I don’t agree that this is pure speculation. Basically Hyatt are also sending out customer surveys regarding credit card changes. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s seem strange that Chase is streamlining some of the credit cards offered (e.g Southwest) and then on the other hand considering adding more product skews with their hotel products.
- 10 Free Rides From Lyft by Mile Nerd.
- Free Chick-fil-A Coffee for February by Heels First Travel. I dislike Chil-Fil-A a lot.
- Becoming a Seller by Matt from Saverocity.
Chik-Fil-A is the best!
I downloaded Carmel Car and Limo Service and received the $72 credit. After calling Carmel Car, they said it can be applied only to 20% of each Carmel Car fare. $60 of this credit can only be used outside of NY, NJ, CT, and PA.
I compared a typical Uber taxis economical fare of $50 to a Carmel Car taxis fare.of $67 for the same route. Carmel Car appears to be significantly more expensive than Uber. Anyone else with experiences or comparisons?
I agree with GFM. Great post!!!
1) Does anyone here know how Amex handles a former customer who refused to submit documentation for an Amex Financial Review and closed all his accounts?
2) How long should this customer wait until he applies to open a new Amex account?
3) Is he black listed for several years or more?
4) Would the authorized user trick work in this case?
I like the recaps – but why no love for chik fil a ?
They donated money to anti-gay organizations.
Actually, I’m still using Serve w/Softcard, because I LOVE the convenience of loading up $1,500/month directly from a credit cards. Until REDbird arrives in California, since I don’t have Walmart nearby, I’ll be sticking to Serve. Once the red bird shows up, I’m switching! But for now, I love the convenience of Serve w/Softcard. I agree, what happened to all the freebie offers they had in Q4? Loved the United offer. That was super easy…!
They are looking to be purchased by somebody (Google is interested) so I think they are waiting for that to go through.
Why do you dislike “Chil-Fil-A” a lot?
FYI on the Carmel – $60 of that $72 isn’t usable in NY, CT, or PA which is their biggest market. So not a great offer after all for many of us.
That’s disappointing.
Good stuff…keep it coming!
