Chase INK Cash: Get 10% Off Hotel & Car Rentals via UR Portal

The Offer

Chase is sending out the following offer on the INK Cash card as well:

  • Earn a total of 10% Cash Back on up to $2,500 in combined hotel and car rental purchases made through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal with your INK Cash card

It’s not 10% extra, only 9% extra, on top of the standard 1% cash back earnings on all purchases.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid for bookings made from March 1 to March 31, 2017
  • Offer valid when using your INK Cash card and booking through Ultimate Rewards portal
  • Bonus cash back will post to your account within a week of the transaction posting, and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement and be available for use within 1-2 billing cycles

Our Verdict

Note the terms indicate that you must pay with your INK Cash card. You have to book during March, but can book out into the future. Update: make sure you got the email from Chase about this offer. Since there’s no public landing page, it might be targeted.

You will be losing out on the portal rewards by booking through Ultimate Rewards instead of an OTA. You could use your CSR, for example, and get 3x on travel when booking through a different OTA. Looking at it that way, it’s just 7x bonus. And you also might be losing out on hotel loyalty points, so keep that in mind.

We posted this offer for the Freedom and Freedom Unlimited cards, and reader Rahul let us know that the same offer is being sent out on the INK Cash card. I haven’t yet found a public offer page, if anyone finds such a link please let us know and I’ll add it in.

I booked a hotel on Mar 22 using Ink Cash through Chase portal and I still haven’t gotten my 10x. How long did it take for you guys to get your 10x points, if you did get them

It seems that this offer doesn’t work for the Ink Cash card. Perhaps it is targeted. Do any datapoints suggest otherwise?

Doc–does the cash offer primary insurance coverage?

Hey Doc.

I have INK Cash since 2012 (MasterCard). Few months ago I got INK Preffered (missed INK+for a day). I’m under 5/24, so, I was thinking since INK Cash is now a VISA card, is there a way to get that sign up bonus again?

Thank You!

How long after I close the INK Cash (MasterCard) should I wait before I apply for the VISA version?

Thank You!

Where am I not looking when I can’t find this offer on either my Freedom or my Ink Cash cards?

Hi DoC,

I’m considering the INK Cash as the last card to close out my 5/24. (I recently signed up for the Amex PRG/Platinum/SPG on the way, and a Chase Sapphire Reserve–all were chosen for their great signup bonuses at the time).

I’m pretty disappointed and underwhelmed by AMEX’s recent announcement about the Platinum’s “improvements”, and am considering moving all my spend over to Chase. Would you consider the INK Cash, INK Preferred, or Freedom Unlimited the most logical card to get before reaching 5/24? Do Chase small business cards still not count *towards* 5/24?

Great advice, thank you.

Do an Ink Preferred and then change it to a Ink cash after the year is up. Bigger signup bonus.

Great idea, thanks. Hopefully the Ink Cash will stick around.
