Bank of America Refunding Spirit Airlines Annual Fees – But Only If You Ask

Spirit Airlines has ceased operations and all flights have been cancelled, we looked at what to do if you’re affected already. We didn’t know how Bank of America would handle the Spirit Airlines cobranded card. Bank of America has sent out the following e-mail:

You may continue using your card as you normally would for everyday purchases.

Your account continues to be serviced by us.

There’s nothing you need to do right now.

What happens next

We’ll reach out to you about any updates to your account, including details about a product transition, if applicable.

We’re here to help

We appreciate your patience as we work through this transition and remain committed to keeping you informed every step of the way.

Thank you for being a Bank of America client.

You’ll notice that there is no mention of the $79 annual fee that the card carriers. Several readers have been successful getting this refunded in full, even the annual fee was charged some time ago. Unfortunately at this time it seems that you need to call and then escalate to a supervisor to get it refunded. I’m still hopeful that Bank of America will do right by these cardholders and offer them all an annual fee refund but in the meantime you can always call.
