Many have been pointing out recently that the airline shopping portals – all run under the Catera affiliate program – have now added eBay as a merchant to their shopping portals. You can get currently 4 United miles, 3 Southwest miles, 1 AAdvantage mile, or .5 Alaska miles per dollar spent on eBay. (HT: saverocity for Southwest and orensmoneysaver for United)
Of course, with the ability now to  earn 5% cashback on eBay purchases, 3-4 miles isn’t a huge deal. Still, it has numerous uses:
- Some will value the miles more than the cashback. This is especially true for someone trying to rack up enough points on Southwest for the companion pass which represents an outsized value.
- If the 5% deal ends in the future, we’ll have to keep an eye out on the mileage rates to see which is a better deal, depending on what the mileage portals will be offering at that time.
- You can use this as an easy way to keep miles from expiring in the Southwest, United, American, and Alaska mileage programs.
