Lots of these could be money makers for buying and reselling. The Babies R Us and Lowes are particularly interesting and will probably go fast. Also, the Cabela’s and TGI are options. If you can deal with e-gift cards, Sephora and Overstock are options.

Remember to go through a portal for an additional 1.5%, and you’ll also get 2% back in ebay bucks.

Cash Advance Fee

The e-gift cards from Paypal Digital should not be an issue of cash advance fees according to our findings here (and should hopefully earn 5x with INK as well).

As for the physical gift cards from Giftcardmall, according to a report we wrote about yesterday the issue has been fixed. And a reader commented there that they had success with a Citi card yesterday (cash advance set to $0). I’m pretty convinced that it’s fixed but there’s obviously some degree of risk if you have a cash advance limit on your card. Please let us know your experiences so that we can all know for certain.

If you don’t have your cash advance set to $0 and you don’t want to risk  it, you should still be okay paying with an Amex card, even a Fidelity Amex card, but all other cards were having the problem of cash advance fees. Chase had mixed reports. See the full list here.

[UPDATE: I did a Giftcardmall charge on my Citi card (which does have a cash advance line, I believe) and it’s showing up as “DEPARTMENT STORE”, so it looks like there shouldn’t be any cash advance issues.]

A little questions for my fellow re-sellers: do you buy the insurance from USPS when you mail those cards in? I don’t really feel comfortable shipping $500 worth of gift cards just with a tracking number (First Class Parcel via Paypal) but the $6-7 they charge for the insurance is quite hefty… What’s your experience on that?

I try to sell them as digital cards as much as possible through SaveYa and Raise, but when I do have to mail them in, I just make sure to copy down all the numbers. I haven’t had any problems yet, but if I do run into any, it’s possible I’ll be able to call up the retailer and get a replacement card.

While almost all the cards say they won’t be replaced, I’ve heard many retailers do it anyway.

Just bought some Lowes ones. Thanks! You would think they would sell the Lowes and babies r us ones directly to the resellers. They would certainly make a lot more money that way.

Which gift card buyers (Cardpool, ABC, Gift Card Zen etc) buy e-gift cards?

ABC will buy codes most of the time, but reduce their payout versus mailing them in. SaveYa is my goto for e-cards most of the time as they have the best rates for a lot of them, but they have a weekly limit on sales that is loosely enforced from my experience.

If you’re selling more than their limits though, just ask to be a bulk seller.

Wow, Babies R Us went fast! What do you think about reselling Overstock.com e-GCs from Paypal Digital Gifts?

SVM has Cabela’s, TGI Fridays and some others that have lower resale values at the same 20% discount.
