Inbox Dollars Removes eBay 5% Offer

We’ve written about the ability to get 5% back from the Inbox Dollars shopping portal. Just within the last few hours, they’ve removed eBay from their merchant list.

We had assumed from the outset that this was a temporary offer (based on historical data and the fact that they are presumably losing money on the deal) and it looks like it’s ended today.

Currently, the best offer for eBay is either 2 miles with AAdvantage or 1% with numerous other portals.

No one has gotten paid out yet by Inbox for their eBay purchases; we’re all hoping they still pull through. My contact at Inbox tells me that there should be some payments (for the early purchases) coming through by October 19. Let’s hope so…

Not totally surprised. I knew it was a gamble, but still that stinks. Hopefully they honor what they promised.

Worst case I suppose I lost 1% on a few got 5% on some from TCB that I wouldn’t have. Probably a net loss overall, but close.

all i did was spend about $1,000 on ebay and jumped through some of their 10-cent hoops to keep the account active.

they responded to my online chat via email days later.
i’ve been traveling overseas for the last month.
they’ve been logging my IP and probably think i’m some poor asian gold farmer.
they didn’t reinstate my account.
i was gonna say be careful using this site overseas, but deal’s dead anyway!

I received the same message. Online chatted with them. The chat with “Derek” was basically useless. Said my situation requires further investigation. I’m not holding my breath.

I received a similar message. I contacted IBD and they informed me that since I accessed their site from a country other than the country where I enrolled, my account was terminated and my earnings presumably forfeited. Needless to say a crock. Yes I am indeed out of my home country now but I only clicked on a few of their 2 cent emails to keep my account balance from falling into an inactive state. I did not try to complete any surveys. That’s the important takeaway here.

It was up and running last night when I made a $1k+ purchase. I hope it’s honored. That’s assuming they pay of course.

I was also told that purchases before 9/11 would be credited by 10/19. All of my purchases were 9/11 and after.

And that’s why I don’t bother with portals and use my own ePN links. Been doing it for years and make way more than 1-2% back…

LOL – just click on them – you get paid $.02 per email you click on. I’ve made 3 whole dollars clicking on them + the initial $5.
