Keep in mind that Synchrony issue a lot of sub prime cards to sub primer cardholders, so not surprising to see an increase in their default rates considering the record lows they have been sitting out. This could be a sign of things to come for cardholders/issuers that are prime, but too early to tell.
- Home Depot Files Antitrust Lawsuit Against Visa, MasterCard by Wall Street Journal. This is pretty big if true, chip & PIN would greatly diminish fraud rates here if opted. I didn’t realize that it made such a difference in the interchange fees that payment networks and card issuers were able to charge as well. This carries on from other allegations made previously by Home Depot and a number of other retailers.
