The Offer

Check your Chase Offers/BofA Bank Amerideals for the following deal:

  • Get 10% back on select Marriott properties when you spend $100 or more.

Our Verdict

We saw last similar offers for select Marriott properties, this new offer is broader and includes all Marriott properties. I’m unsure if this is found on other bank cards that share the same back end as Chase Offers.

FM notes that you should only use this at the final checkout to avoid the possibility of the temporary hold ‘using up’ the offer.

Copy-pasting my offer below. Does this mean it’s US only? So the offer wouldn’t payout if I were to make the purchase in Germany? Looking for DPs if anyone has had a chance to validate… Thanks

Any DPs as to whether this works if you book through a third party but pay on-site? I have to use my company travel portal.

Should work if you pay at the front desk

I don’t think this offer is “broader”. It’s actually for just one brand “Marriott Hotels”, not any other 30 or so brands in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.

This is incorrect. “Marriott Hotels” in this case encompasses all brands in the Bonvoy portfolio. The qualifying URL in the offer points to a general Marriott reservation portal that includes all properties — received this on multiple cards and it’s indeed broader than past brand-limited offers.

I’m afraid you’re incorrect. “Marriott Hotels” is a special brand within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. Very confusing, isn’t it? The link marriott-hotels.com in the offer is specifically for that brand, even though it can lead you to other brands in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, just like any other Marriott Bonvoy brand-specific site. OTOH, because of the confusion, Chase/Marriott may decide to honor the offer for all brands, but this isn’t guaranteed.

So this one is valid only at the “Marriott”, not at Courtyard by Marriott or JW or Sheraton, Residence Inn. Amex is pretty clear about what is included and what is excluded. This offer from WF is kind of vague.

oops this thread is about Chase offer and I responded for Wells Fargo offer. Both are similar and same text.

He’s right. It’s just Marriott Hotel hotels.

I ran a search from the link, and it only gave me Marriott Hotel hotels.

Yes, Chase Offers treats all Marriott brands separately, whereas Amex Offers will either treat all Marriott brands the same or only separate out the most expensive ones in a seperate group (Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, etc.) for a different offer

Good catch! Definitely seems brand specific, especially since they pushed out a lot of other brand specific offers for the marriott family

Got the Marriott Bonvoy offer on my Ink Biz Cash but not my Sapphire Preferred unfortunately. Have an upcoming stay at St Regis in Feb so the timing is perfect, but with the $100 cap I’d rather have the 2x points for what our cash spend will be.

Tip: A few days ago, the Rakuten mobile app had a 7% back on Expedia hotel purchases, which I think you could pay for with Sapphire Preferred.

Stayed at an Autograph Collection hotel, with a 10% spending more than $100 offer, but it doesn’t seem to have been triggered. The transaction name doesn’t indicate anything about Autograph Collection – it just posts as the hotel name. Is Chase suppose to know a list of the hotels branded under the Autograph Collection?

Earn 10% cash back on your Marriott Bonvoy stay, when you spend $100 or more, with a $100.00 cash back maximum.

Offer expires 5/15/2024. Offer valid one time only. Complete payment for your stay must be made by 5/15/2024. Offer not valid on third-party purchases. Offer valid at all Marriott Bonvoy brands. Payment must be made directly with the merchant. Offer subject to availability. Please see website for open locations.

A few questions:

  1. The maximum is $100 cash back which means $1000 total spend. Does this have to be done in one transaction? I’m confused by the “offer valid one time only”. Is the offer considered completed after reaching $1000 total spend, or just after the first $100?
  2. What if I do two separate $50 transactions? Would this trigger the offer at all?
