Our Verdict

Best thing about this promotion is they have removed the restrictions that it has to be at specific stores. SYWR have been offering a lot of similar promotions recently:

It’s important to note that this is all in addition to the points you’d normally earn as well. I basically just see this as an easy way to generate some free/cheap points. Normally I wouldn’t bother, but this seems to be an easy way to get $10/$15 in points each week with minimal spend.

darn tooting spell autocorrect! (and after I proof read it even)…. Wish we could edit our own posts.

Anyhow, that’s if you cancel your order…. you blow (not bless!) your shot at the syw referral payout for the week.

I’ve also had problems arise when shopping via merchants (like WMT again), where if they sub-divide the order…. after you place it…. (thinking you met the syw spending requirement to trigger the bonus)…. Particularly aggravating with the new WMT shopping system…. Just because you think the computer says it’s “in stock” and ready for in-store pick-up doesn’t mean you’ll actually get it that way. (I’ve had orders where the computer over-rides it, even when I’m sure there’s stock on the shelf — and then it gets sub-divided, then fouls up the SYW tracking…. grrrr…. and I’m loathe to draw attention to my account, given that there are weeks where …. yes…. it seems to pay out better than expected/hoped) At my present rate, I may buy a lawn tractor this spring…. on points.

A few downsides to these syw portal deals:

1. If you place an order (say via WMT), then cancel it, you bless your shot at the payout for that week. (at least that’s been my recent experience)

2. I’ve had weeks where the transaction, begun via the SYW everywhere/brands portal (and after properly logging on) have not “tracked.” They tell you it can take ten days or so, but when it doesn’t track, you have no way to prove you initiated a transaction via the portal. (am I missing something)

ON THE OTHER HAND:

1. I’ve had some recent “remarkable” payouts….. think percentages…. will confirm within a few days if they actually post. Even then, i hesitate to draw attention to them, as it’d would either kill such opportunities, or invite lots of counter-claims from others where it didn’t work….

So safer then to say, “YMMV” (but oh my, when it works…. 😉 )

win some, lost a few (less)

Not relevant to this particular offer with a $25 spend requirement, but for future reference, there may be a min $20 spend on Raise for SYW points and/or bonuses. I was informed by SYW customer service, when I inquired after missing points from a previous offer where I bought a Raise card through their portal, that…
“To qualify for future Raise Brand offers, please make sure that your transaction meets the minimum requirement of $20.”

This was a $15-spend bonus offer, but I had to chase down both the bonus AND the regular Raise 8% points. They DID cough ’em up, though. If this $20 min spend requirement for SYW points from Raise is written down somewhere, I sure hadn’t seen it.

I wonder if this would work with the Amex Petco offer.
